We're going to have 1:02 Speaker 4 a special. Monday, it's a Memorial Day, a day of remembering and memorying stuff. My name is Brandon Thrasher. It's the Daily Dose Show. What is Chuck Iron Fist? How you doing? 1:12 Speaker 5 It's a somber day, man. It's a somber day. And you know, my biggest pet peeve and I talk about every time I get an opportunity is Memorial Day is not veteran's day. So don't thank me for my service unless I'm no longer here. All right? That's what we care about on Memorial Day. 1:28 And with that, I got to give a shout out a couple names that need to be mentioned on Memorial Day. Ryan Ballmer, Nate K Ryan, 2 very good friends of mine that are no longer with us. Yeah, man, it's, it's it's weird. I don't like recording on sad days. I, I think that we need to maybe take, if we're going to take a day off, maybe take Memorial Day off. 1:30 on Sunday to work and put up these lights for my wife. 1:49 Speaker 4 Next Memorial Day, so we're just going to go on planet now, but the next one we're not going to. 1:53 Speaker 5 Do it all next Memorial Day. We're taking off and, and, and September 11th. I think we should just take that off too. 1:58 Speaker 4 What do I? 1:59 Speaker 5 Sad. 2:00 Speaker 4 Yeah, there's a lot of lot of Jews involved with that. That's very sad. 2:00 and 2:00. 2:03 Speaker 5 How did you get that worked in that quickly in the show? So ridiculous. 2:09 Speaker 4 Quick, that was like a minute into the show, but yeah, no, it's Memorial Day. So people probably like the lake, probably cooking out, probably grill. I think people get 4th of July, veteran's day, Memorial Day, like all matched into one. They just think it's like a a day off and it's like a America celebrate. 2:26 Weather Woes, ChatGPT Home Ideas, and Crazy Mark's Visit It is and and you always have you know, the weather kind of sucked this weekend. So I mean it worse. I I Carter actually looked at me and goes, dad, how long has it been since we had weather like this? I said, I know. And it just so happens to be on a three day weekend when people are getting just, you know, crappy, gloomy, cold. 2:41 And luckily, you know, we were going to have a party. We're going to have people over on the weekend. We were going to grill. And I had all these great plans. And then of course, the weather fell through. And I said, you know what, scrap it. We're not doing any of that. And and then Megan does a ChatGPT of the back of our house and ChatGPT came up with this great idea to do around this back window by the pool. 3:02 And she said, can you make me that table? So yeah, I'll make the table. So I made it. Well, then ChatGPT said you got to have lights. You got to have these beautiful lights. 3:10 Speaker 4 Of course. And they're going to visualize lights that probably don't even exist. And then you got to find them and then they're probably like you got to, they're like in a, a mine deep in Africa. Like those are the only places you can find the lights. 3:20 Speaker 5 Exactly. So I took these, I took this picture. I don't know anything about lighting, but I said, you know what? I know a guy, right, Because crazy is an electrician and he helped me with the cabin. So he's really, really good just so I can send him stuff, go hey, what what's this look like? Like, how do I do this? And yeah, he said I'll be right over. 3:37 So now crazy's on his way here and he's putting up the lights for my wife. And he said, yeah, it's probably going to take me between 3:54 Speaker 4 Well, yeah, Chuck texted me. He's like, well, First off, he called me this morning and I was like, dying. I'm still dying right now. It's rough. We went over, had a pool party at my friend's house that her little brother was graduating. But we used to party over there all the time. So I'll have a reunion. See everybody went over there partied. 4:09 I didn't break anything. That's good. You know, usually when I get that hammered over there, that pool, something gets broken on my body. Like my usually my ankles get broke all the time. I don't know why it is about that house, but the ground is very prone to breaking ankles anyway. 4:25 But no, Chuck called me this morning. I'm like, dude, I'm dying. I got to do laundry and take a shower and I haven't done either one of those things yet. But I figured if we had to start recording now, I had to start drinking beer again to level myself back out. So I cracked up with a Bud line. I'm like, all right, let's get to it because Chuck said Crazy Mark is coming over, said it's going to take him five hours and then he wants to swim in the pool afterwards. 4:45 So he's probably never leaving it. It reminds me of It reminds me of the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. Yes, that's how I feel about Crazy Mark sometimes. 4:57 Speaker 5 If you can't. And the best part, you know, like, again, the weather sucks and so Mark's on his way over. I'm like, hey, man, I'm like Brandon, like we got to record early because you know, if he's here and we're doing this, he's going to be right here next. If there's no way he's not going to be like grabbing the microphone out of here. And I got it's crazy. 5:00 and 5:00 PM at New Rome Brewing. 5:13 I'm here and I saw a kid today with a family, you know, so I'm like, OK, we got to get this out and done before he gets here. Well, then Justin from verified home services. So, you know, again, he's the one who set up the meeting with, with Brandon and I in Buckhead at chops and, and, and you know, to get us a sponsor. 5:30 Rs Andrews still waiting on him, you know, not looking good with Rs Andrews. So Justin calls me. He says, hey, man, I think I have another sponsor for you. This guy's like crazy. Interested in sponsoring the show? Hey, thank you, dude. Like, we love it when people are looking out for us and they just have us on their mind. 5:47 And he said, so can we go to lunch next Friday? And I said, yeah, dude, like, done deal. Me and Brandon will be there. And just be prepared. I don't know what Brandon's going to wear, but it's probably going to be something embarrassing. Well, he just texted me after Mark said he's coming over. And he said, hey, dude, we'll be there in 30 minutes. 6:02 It looks like we got a break in the rain, so the fam's just going to hang out. And I'm like, what? OK, you know, So I thought, I tell Mark I'm like, hey, man, Justin's going to be here from VHS. And he's like, I know how to play well with others. I didn't say and I just wanted you to know it wouldn't just be us because he gets his feelings hurt when other people join the party and I don't give him 100% of my attention, so I was. 6:27 Speaker 4 About to say yeah, he wants all a Chuck to himself and. 6:31 Speaker 5 Don't talk to him, talk to me. Crazy. 6:34 Speaker 4 Mark and I'm here. 6:35 Speaker 5 Remember when, when Kyle was here and everyone was hanging out at the pool and Kyle sat down next to me and Mark went to go get a Coke and he comes back and he's like, hey man, get out of my chair. And Kyle's like that. You got up, he goes, I don't care, get out of my chair. And Kyle goes, but dude, you got up and Mark goes, I'm not kidding. 6:53 You need to move. Like he was like, it was the awkwardest moment. I was like, Oh my God, they're going to come to blows, dude. But yeah, so that's all I'm doing. It's good times. 7:00 hours. So I'll just, I'll, I'll get there as soon as I can. So he's going to be here at 7:03 Speaker 4 There's a lot of bickering that normally goes on, especially like also like him and Tara, they'll bicker at each other too when we're in public events. You know, I, I, I don't know what the reason is. I don't know why we can't all just like chill out for like 4 hours and just not bicker. But it just happens. But just how it is around here, man. It's like we're, it's like we're dads. We're like gay dads and we got to raise these kids. 7:20 Speaker 5 I think there's sexual tension between him and Tara. 7:20 Speaker 5 I think there's sexual tension between him and Tara. I just don't think they've, you know, they're obviously not going to act on it because, you know, well, I thought she was gay, but she's not. And I'm sorry, Terry, I realize you're just an ally. I know that I've, I've told everybody on the show you're not, but I think that's what it is. I think that secretly they find each other attractive and that's why they picked which I love that. 7:39 I love that. 7:40 Speaker 4 Yeah, yeah, we're we're creating young love. Look at that I. 7:43 Speaker 5 Mean and Mark's girlfriend. We're just kidding that that was a joke. 7:47 Speaker 4 Yeah, my uncle girlfriend's not going to like that. But yeah, now everything's going good, so hopefully we get something good out of crazy. Mark and Justin coming over today. I do Your what? 8:01 Speaker 5 I thought you were going to talk about the other thing because because I'm so excited to talk about this. What the the podcast, Oh, oh with Mad Dog. 8:11 Evaluating Pilot Episodes from Crazy Mark, Josh, Dean, and Lexi So oh that oh man, we're all you know what? This is so much. We're OK. First off, we got to get into this so crazy. As you guys know, if you we talked about it last week and socials and all that crazy. Mark and Josh Gibbs have decided they want to be podcasters. 8:29 They they are going to start their own podcast and they're going to do great things and they're going to replace me. And, and Brandon, the weirdest thing I've ever heard in my life is somebody tell you, hey, we're going to be so good. We're going to replace you. Like why would you tell me that you give us? 8:43 Speaker 4 A heads up though, that's kind of nice. You give us like a two week notice still. Hey, we're going to fire you guys in two weeks. 8:47 Speaker 5 It's like the worst backstabbing in the world. So, so they said they did record a, an episode. And so Brandon calls me on Friday, I believe it was. And he said, hey, man, I got I got the episode. Do you want it? And he sent it to me. Now I don't know how to approach this, Brandon, because I do consider crazy Mark and Josh good people and I want to keep them friends. 9:11 So I want you to discuss the the podcast before I say anything. 9:18 Speaker 4 Yeah, I mean, it's so it's them two. They're at Mark's there at Mark's warehouse, wire warehouse shop where you got all this electrical shit in there. And it was definitely, you know, I found it to be funny. It's definitely an awkward funny. It's about 17 minutes long, I believe. 9:33 I don't know how much longevity there is there, but we'll see how it goes as the shows progress. Because you can have it almost reminds me kind of like when we started doing the coolest 2 podcast on the radio back in the day, but that was the same thing. Like we couldn't we didn't have longevity with that kind of style. We couldn't produce an hour long show every day with it, but I I think it for that first episode, it was funny. 9:55 They had some good moments in there. I'm like, OK, all right. 9:55 They had some good moments in there. I'm like, OK, all right. So I think people will get a little entertainment out of this. So we're going to put it up at the end of this episode for a Memorial Day special, like 10-10 minutes of it, 15, and you guys let us know what you think. 10:08 Speaker 5 Yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm. So I was only able to get through 7 minutes and then I stopped and I was just, I, I couldn't do it. And then I called you and you kind of explained it that way to me. And so when I watched the rest of it, I did it with the mentality that I was watching The Office with Steve. 10:27 Speaker 4 That's the same kind. Yeah. You got to, you got to, you got to embrace the awkwardness between the two of them. And I don't know. I don't know if that's just going to be their style, like that's just their natural chemistry, or if it's just because they've never done a podcast for and it's just starting off like that. 10:40 Speaker 5 It was awesome after I after I wrapped my brain around the awkwardness and I watched it that way. I was like, OK, now it's funny, but it, it's just so if anybody, when you guys watch this, when you listen to the show, we're like I said we're, you know, Brandon said Brandon saying 10 to 15 minutes. I mean, Brandon, you got to give him the good stuff. 10:56 So give him five, OK, 'cause that's good. If you edit it right, it's banging. OK. I don't know if you got 15 minutes of good content, but either way, you guys let us know. And then shortly thereafter, so we, me and Brandon were talking about this, cause I don't know how so many people want to get into podcasting, but we think it's wonderful. 11:15 And Dean from carpet Depot had sent over a pilot podcast with him and his wife, Lexi, and he said, Hey, we, I want your honest opinion on this. What do you think? So I watched the entire episode. Obviously it's kind of the same thing with with Josh and and and crazy where, you know, there's some just, you know, there's not a good flow yet. 11:37 But that comes and I think it's a little bit easier with your wife because they have inside jokes that we don't know about. Something's yours going. I don't, you know, whatever. But it was good. And So what I think we need to do at the end of this episode, Brandon's going to put up clips from both podcasts and you guys let us know which one's moving on. 11:54 Which one? Which one do you guys would you want to hear more of that podcast? That way it's not me and Brandon because me and Brandon go Oh, dude, sorry, crazy. It was too awkward. He's going to be like, you guys just are doing this because you know, we're going to have so many more listeners than you. 12:00 to 12:10 It's you're screwing us over you. We're awesome, right? But if you guys can give us your feedback, honest feedback, Dean from Carpet Depot and crazy. Everybody's on the socials. So they'll see it and be honest with Dean too. I mean, Dean and Lexi are really thinking about getting into this. 12:26 And theirs is not a comedy podcast. It's very much real world, real stuff from for a one of those, what do they call it? When families have kids, they get very blended. Yeah, I don't want to say. I always say mixed. Oh yeah, that sounds. 12:39 Speaker 4 Bad Yeah, you don't want a mixed family. 12:41 Speaker 5 That's awful. 12:41 Speaker 5 That's awful. It's blended. So they talk about that. So but we're going to have both those up at the end of the show. So make sure you guys stay tuned for that. Listen and let us know. And Brandon may we might be in the we might be in the production business here. We might, we might just start having all these people come to us and pitch us ideas. 12:59 And then we just we take their podcasts and use their content and give them 50% of what we're making right now. 13:05 Speaker 4 Yeah, which is nothing so, but yeah, we kind of thought it might work out well like that, especially with everyone that's already just willing to do it. And it's kind of more like a open, open call to everybody. Like if you think you got a good idea, a good podcast, you got to be a good partner. 13:21 You can do it with let us know, do a record episode, shoot us the shoot it to us. And we'll kind of do this style for a little while. See what? See what's popping. See what? See what talent we got out there. You know, we're talent searchers now. We're like scouts for podcasts. 13:34 Speaker 5 Yeah, we'll call it Podcast Last Wednesdays or something where we just like review podcasts and we let you guys hear them and and Brandon gets to edit a lot. 13:42 Speaker 4 With all these podcasts, yeah, you're telling me that. And I'm sitting here and my mind's already got to explode. I'm thinking about all this I got to do late today. I'm like oh God damn it. 13:50 Speaker 5 Fuck, I know as soon as as soon as I I'm like, Brandon's got to edit an hour episode into 5 minutes. It's going to suck so bad for you, but that's good, you're good at it. You're the only reason I think you should do is. You're better than me at that. 14:04 Speaker 4 Oh, OK. All right. Whatever. I'll take that. 14:07 Speaker 5 Always send a compliment when you. 14:10 Speaker 4 I I really need this done now and it's, it's a huge headache, but I just know you're going to handle it so. 14:17 Speaker 2 Well, but. 14:18 Chuck's Controversial Opinions on Marriage and Partner Choices No, I was going to say something about the podcast thing. Yeah, I don't know with the with the blended family thing, though, is that something people look for? Like if I don't know, your wife dies or a black guy takes her, you just be like, all right, hey, it's me, Chuck and I got 3 kids. 14:36 Are you looking for like a wife, like a chick with three kids also or single or maybe one kid so that way she can focus on your kids more? 14:44 Speaker 5 I definitely would not prefer to marry again, but if I did, I would definitely prefer not marrying a woman with a bunch of kids. Now, don't get me wrong, heart wants what the heart wants, right? I mean, I'm sure it works for a lot of people. 15:00 You can't control who you fall in love with. You can't control that, but you can control the circumstances in which you're put into that you could fall in love, right? So like me personally, if I find if if Megan was to leave me tomorrow and you know, I'm not going to just sit here and not do anything, I'm going to go try to find somebody to hang out with, right? 15:20 I'm not going to find the girl on Facebook that has six kids, you know, that's been married three times and she's like, I'm looking for somebody. I'm not going to do that. But I also don't want to find a single girl that's 45 because she's never been married. She's. 15:35 Speaker 4 Not going to take care of kids either. 15:37 Speaker 5 Well, and why? I mean, that's a red flag too, right? I mean, if you're 45 and you've never been married, that's a red flag. That is a huge red flag. 15:44 Speaker 4 Yeah, it's always those bitches that are like, I care more about my career. Like, bitch, that's not no one. No one cares about your career except for you, all right? Nobody, The whole world will be perfectly fine if whatever career you had, you didn't. And we'd be OK, all right? You're not making work. 15:57 Speaker 5 Around What if she was like a doctor? 16:00 Speaker 4 I think we could deal without a female doctor. 16:03 Speaker 5 You would you, you. I think you've said in the past like there's certain surgeries you wouldn't let a woman operate on you. 16:10 Speaker 4 Yes, 100% yes. 16:11 Speaker 5 Brain brain surgery Would you let a woman I. 16:13 Speaker 4 Don't. 16:14 Speaker 6 Think that'd be a good idea? 16:15 Speaker 4 You know, like you talking about putting yourself in these situations that that's turned up bad. Like you don't have the choice if you got a brain tumor, but you do get to choose who takes it out and who takes out the right part. Black. 16:25 Speaker 5 Oopsie, that was the wrong part of the brain. The. 16:31 Speaker 4 Simultaneous fucking. 16:34 Speaker 2 Grown nice. 16:36 Surprising Music Preferences and Parental Consent Challenges But no, then I also, I also told Chuck we were thinking about it. I was like, why didn't he have do an episode like with him and his buddies? I think you were making that more of a joke. But I was like, dude, they've got these. It's called the Foodie boys. They're out of Maryland and they just sit at around the table and just talk about their favorite things to eat and places to go to eat and their, you know, favorite thing their mom makes them for for lunch or snacks or, you know, I was like, it might work. 16:57 You know you got kids. 16:58 Speaker 5 It's funny because it's, I think I think a better episode would be Megan's questions to these young boys and their response and then Megan's response to them. A good example is this. So Carter has a lot of friends that live in the neighborhood that are minorities, right? 17:17 So his, his his best friends. His best friends are black, like all of them. And he's the only white kid. So anyway, they're all over swimming yesterday, just, you know, jumping in swimming. And Megan goes, I had the I had the radio on, I had the stereo, the speaker out. 17:32 And I say, hey, guys, what kind of music do you guys want to listen to? 17:32 And I say, hey, guys, what kind of music do you guys want to listen to? Right? And then one of the kids goes, I mean, I love Morgan Wallen and Megan from like across the backyard goes what she. 17:43 Speaker 4 Told her like I thought he was going to say 2. 17:47 Speaker 5 Chainz, he comes right in over. And she goes, hey, hey, did you just say you like Morgan Wallen? And he goes, yeah, I love Morgan Wallen. And she goes, are you serious? And he goes, yeah, she was. That is so cool that you love Morgan. I'm over here like, dude, chill, Meg, like, chill. 18:07 Like, you're getting a little out of control right now. And she's like, that's just so cool that he likes Morgan Wallen. I was like, why? Why is that such a shocking thing? So that's the stuff that is funny to me is when Megan is interacting with these boys and you know, things like that happen. 18:22 Speaker 4 I think you need to phrase it how you say that. That just sounds weird. What? Wait, Megan's interacting with these young boys? 18:29 Speaker 5 No, I mean like talking to them, just having conversations. 18:32 Speaker 4 You get her arrested, be like, what? What's going on over there in the Ludsford family? They're making my kid listen to Maureen Wallet and playing with my kids. That's odd. Yeah. But no, I think I think a show like that would do good. I think. Did you pitch it to him like? 18:44 Speaker 5 No, I'm not going to pitch it to him. I don't want, dude, I already record enough. I don't want to have another podcast I got to worry about. Oh. 18:50 Speaker 4 You ain't got to worry about it. We'll just let him say whatever and we'll post it, you know, kind of like this one. 18:54 Speaker 5 I'll give him you know what I'll have him do 1 episode tomorrow and but I can't have his friends do it because he's I I can't get parental consent. Why? 19:03 Speaker 4 Don't you just ask the parents for consent? That's how you get parental consent and. 19:06 Speaker 5 Then they're going to be like, well, what show are you on? And then I'm going to tell them they're like, our kids aren't allowed to play with your son anymore. 19:15 Speaker 4 And I mean Dad, why don't my? 19:17 Speaker 6 Friends go away. 19:19 Speaker 5 Well, Mr. Brandon thought it'd be fun to tell everybody that you're you're going to start a podcast and you're going to be on the Daily Dose Show. And he's like, oh, I lost all my friends because of Brandon. Like, yeah, pretty much happens all the time. That Brandon is always to blame and. 19:33 Speaker 4 It happens, son, when you're around Uncle Brandon for too long. You get in lawsuits and lose friends somehow. But. 19:39 Patreon, Merch, Events, and the Bobcat Sponsor Story Guilty as charged, yeah. 19:41 Speaker 4 So all right, well, let's do it you on iHeartRadio podcast over Spotify. Be sure to lose a five star review and a follow up helps out a good bit. It really does and we see y'all doing it all the time. Don't forget leave us a five star review and when we hit 1000, we're going to be giving away APS 5. So all you got to do send the, do the review, send me a screenshot and we'll get you entered into that. 20:01 We also got the Patreon down below. Use that for pet advertising for the show and for doomed scary look, everyone, prostitutes, buses, bus stuff, marketing, awesome. If you can't, if the link doesn't work, just go to Patreon, type in the Daily Doe show. It'll pop up. It's the same logo that you see, you know, fucking everywhere that we have. 20:17 We also got the website dailydoeshow.com. Go there, check that out, get all the information on the show. The merch store up is up there as well. Michael Germany's adding stuff, taking stuff down. He's always reworking that thing, but he appreciates it when you buy something, you know, get you a shirt or a hat. I think we got a, a nice polo up there. 20:33 You know, it's like not crazy, like you could wear it, you know, somewhere nice. Not like some of the other merch where it's like people are definitely going to think you're an absolute psycho. But that's up there as well. So we appreciate that. And we got the event coming up June 7th, 20:48 Brought to you by the Aurora Law Firm. 20:48 Brought to you by the Aurora Law Firm. Man, if you do something stupid, call Manny, call the Mad Dog, and he's going to let you know. He's going to point you in the right direction. We just had a listener that his company owes him like $95,000 that he used to work for, and then they went under and he's been trying for like a year to get the money. 21:04 Manny doesn't deal with that kind of stuff, but he called Manny anyway because Manny pointed in the right direction to get the help he needed. So that's just kind of what the Mad Dog will do for you. If you are a doser and you let him know that you listen to the show, the event's going to be great. Battle of the Band style up there. We're having three bands and we're also having a another blue horoscope they're going to. 21:24 Speaker 5 Be is it blue hologram? 21:27 Speaker 4 Blue hologram. Damn it, Chuck got me all fucked up on that Blue hologram. Rivers Odom, he'll be outside while we're recording, kind of opening everything up for us, getting everybody to loose and everything. Chuck, you got anything to add to that? 21:37 Speaker 5 Yeah, we, we do have a date. We're excited. We are going to be working at the Aurora Law firm this week. Pretty legit. And what sucks is we did it, we're doing it on Friday. So we're not going to be able to like let you guys hear anything until Monday. So you got the whole weekend to say what happened, What happened with the at the Aurora Law firm? 21:54 What happened at the, the sponsor dinner? You know what happened? We don't know. We're not going to be able to tell you until Monday. Sucks. 22:01 Speaker 4 Yeah, yeah. But yeah, no, we are doing that. So that'd be fun. We're going to go get in there early Friday morning and we're hopefully, I don't know if we should be talking about this because you can just like find the address. I think there's going to be a lot of listeners in the parking lot waiting. Oh. 22:13 Speaker 5 Man, you'd be pissed, right? People are like, hey, I'm here. Yeah. You know what? We we'll, we'll we'll talk about it later. And I was kidding. It's not Friday. It's a different day. 22:22 Speaker 4 It's, I don't know, Manny kind of made it seem like Fridays were just like, fuck off days. He's like, So what days can you do it? He's like Tuesday afternoon. 22:29 Speaker 5 Or all day Friday, man, and he's. 22:32 Speaker 4 Like, so I think it's just kind of like a hangout fuck off day, maybe a little bit. I don't know, probably shouldn't have like fuck off days when you're like a law firm, you know? I think so. I was supposed to be serious. You know, a lot of people. 22:43 Speaker 5 Don't know, Brandon's kidding, Manny said. 22:43 Speaker 5 Don't know, Brandon's kidding, Manny said. Manny said that Friday's the best just because they're all working really hard and they won't be in the hallways because they're trying to just get these cases fixed. 22:55 Speaker 4 Yeah, yeah. Lots of cases that are broken and they need fixing. So that's what they're doing. And we're going to be in there, you know, distracting all of them probably, you know, flow. 23:04 Speaker 5 Before I forget, because you're supposed to be talking about something and I wanted to get in this a little bit because we have a sponsor for the show, but you said you were to talk about it on Monday and it's Monday. I mean, are you going to talk about it? 23:16 Speaker 4 Oh, it is Monday. Yeah, it is. OK, Yeah. But I say the logo is going to be up here. 23:23 Speaker 5 This This is why we don't have sponsors all. 23:26 Speaker 4 Right, look, all right, I I'm fucked up today and I completely forgot. And Chuck knew the entire time and he didn't tell me until now. We were supposed to do at the beginning, and it will be at the beginning. Moving on. But the Pink Painter by Shepard Hatfield, he listened to his listener all the way back from the radio days. 23:45 He worked at Lockheed Martin. So he's got a lot of cool stuff that he knows about, you know, working on weapons of mass destruction and everything. That's always fun. But then he said enough of that. He said, no, I'm going to tone it down a little bit and I'm going to do some painting. So he owns a painting company, a commercial paint company. 24:01 He's not doing residential right now, but he said if we get enough traction, he will open up a residential side. But for right now, we're just testing the waters. So commercially, paint painting is is what he does. All right. So if you need it, like you got a shop or a building or an office space, he does a lot of stuff at the airport, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. 24:21 I mean, he does major shit. Don't scare that off. No, no, don't let that scare you off. The thing like, oh, I can't afford that. You can't give them a call. Pink painters. Look them up, text them. We're going to get that a little more dialed in on tomorrow's episode. 24:33 Speaker 5 You said you said he does commercially paint painting like. 24:41 Speaker 4 This, it's today was a bad day, but yeah, we will. Yeah, that's the first intro. But we're going to get better on that. You know, we're just, we're building it up because we've never had a sponsor. So we're like, how do we do that? 24:51 Speaker 5 So it's funny because I I my only interaction with this sponsor is when I told Brandon, if you guys remember last week's episode, I said, I'm thinking about buying a bobcat and I'm just going to rent this thing out. It's just going to be passive income, right? I got this kind of what Brandon's doing with all his rental stuff, but Brandon is getting into everything. 25:08 Like he's going to be renting all kinds of craziness. I'm talking one bobcat. I'm smart. I'm starting small. So anyway, he's like, hey, Shepard reached out and said he has a bobcat that you might be interested in. It's low hours. He doesn't use it. I'm like, sweet dude, Yeah, put us on a group text. We're texting yesterday and everything's looking great, right? 25:26 Price is right, hours are right. Like this is a match made in heaven, right? Like, I'm going to get this thing. So then he sends me a picture of it and I'm looking at it and I'm like, it's got the little, like the little baby arms. It doesn't have the extensions for the arms. So therefore you can't put a log in a logging truck with this it, it will not lift a log high enough. 25:47 So I text him back. I said, oh, dude, you know, like I, I totally love it, great machine, but it's got the little arms on it. And he texts me back and he goes, yeah, man, we, we purposely got those arms on it because we, we didn't want any tree companies renting it. So I was like, what? 26:03 I was like, that's. 26:04 Speaker 4 Pretty funny though. 26:05 Speaker 5 I'm like, I'm like, wait, so he knew he knew it wouldn't be good for a tree company. And he's over here like, hey, Chuck, I'm selling this thing for 15K baby. Like what? So anyway, so obviously I'm not going to get it, but I thought that was funny that he's like, yeah, we purposely didn't want to rent to people like you about you dirty bastards destroying. 26:24 Speaker 4 All that shit. He's like, oh man, I thought he just wanted his like a yard ornament. I don't know. 26:30 Speaker 5 Yeah, I didn't know he was going to move logs. 26:32 Speaker 4 With it, but I thought you just want to want to look at My bad. I'm sorry so. 26:36 Speaker 5 But I, I do appreciate it, Shepherd, thank you for reaching out. Thank you for doing that for me and, and thinking of me. It makes it makes me happy even though I can't purchase it. 26:43 Speaker 4 Yeah, we appreciate you sponsoring the show and helping us set out. We'll take those funds to get the bus going. Like I said, the on these insurance and tires ready to start driving down the road. So it'll be the event June 7th. I don't see why not unless it blows up going up the Interstate. You know, like the whole thing falls apart. 26:59 But as of the 10 miles I've drove it with shitty tires, it was doing OK. So yeah, but we got a lot going on this episode feeling like shit, we got a sponsor, we got War stories, we got Crazy and Josh blue Collar shit, we got Dean. 27:15 I mean, there's a lot going on. 27:16 Speaker 5 Here we knew, we knew. I mean, I think we talked yesterday and the the plan for this episode, because it's memorial today it was it's Memorial Day was to just kind of keep it loose, give you guys a little bit of everything. You know what we'll do, we probably should do intros for each one of these. 27:31 Do you want to do that real quick? And we can just like leave, like you can cut them and stuff and you can like edit. 27:37 Speaker 4 Chuck's like you want to do more editing? 27:38 Speaker 5 Today. 27:38 Speaker 5 Today. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's do it. Hold on. You're ready. Hold on here. Let's introduce the blue collar one. 27:43 Speaker 4 1st we got to do. I thought we were doing war stories first. 27:45 Speaker 5 But you're just, you're going to edit this out so it doesn't even matter honestly. You're just going to leave it like this. 27:51 Introducing Anthony Dyer and His Impactful Military Experiences Let's. 27:51 Speaker 4 Just get into it quick, all right? We're going to go and get into what? The Chuck. What the Chuck? Yeah. You want to Chuck me? Chuck you real hard. Chuck me, Chuck me. Chuck me. Chuck me I'm. 28:03 Speaker 5 Full of Chuck. 28:05 Speaker 4 Oh Chuck, Chuck it real. 28:07 Speaker 5 Good. What the DJ envision, which is War stories. 28:07 Speaker 5 Good. What the DJ envision, which is War stories. All right, guys. So hey, I'm crazy, crazy stoked about this one. So I will tell you this is the first War Story segment where we were put in contact with a veteran that is got a book and he's got a publicist and he's doing the whole thing right. 28:31 So I was very skeptical because I didn't know how it was going to turn out. I will tell you the Internet connection was terrible. All right, So the delay was like, Brandon, it would be like this. Hey, so talk to me about your military service. 28:49 Yeah, man. So the whole the interview was like that. So I had to go through and edit it every conversation I had to edit every single response to get them where they match up. So you're welcome when you guys are listening to it. Then I sent it to Michael Germany, had him do the same thing. 29:06 But this guy Anthony Dyer, he, he's got a great story. He was a, he was a gunner on AC130 and, and, and dude, the story that he tells and he tells a lot of stories, but one of the most impactful that I took away was when he was actually going in to get some Marines out. 29:24 He talked about the golden hour, which is when you have a wounded soldier, you have one hour to get them out of off the battlefield and to an operating room to save their life. And he tells a story about, you know, some that didn't make it and things that he experienced. 29:39 But dude, great interview, great guy, very, very fun. So you guys are going to enjoy it. Anthony Dyer. What's up guys? Here we are again, right? 29:56 I mean, dude, you guys love these things you've been killing me with, hey, I need, I need access to the war stories. I need access to the war stories. Hey, it's almost there. And if you don't, if you don't subscribe to the Patreon, you got to wait three months for these things. But all you guys that are really smart that are subscribing to the Patreon, you get these things immediately. 30:12 And like always, I'm telling you guys, it's different every single week, right? We got Coast Guard, we got Marines, we got Army this week, we got somebody that I'm crazy stoked to talk to because I've not had one of these yet, right? And we get to talk about planes, we get to talk about the Air Force, which you guys know my history. I got many, many, many, many too many years in the Air Force. 30:31 But this guy actually wrote a book, which we're going to get into, It's called Moon Child. It's awesome. I cannot wait to discuss that. But without any further delay, let's go and bring him to the stage. Anthony Dyer, What's up, my brother? 30:42 From Firefighter to Aerial Gunner: Anthony Dyer's Story and 'Moon Child' How are you? 30:44 Speaker 2 Hey, thanks for having me, brother. So it's good a pleasure in honor to be here, man. The the biggest, I guess the actual like structure fire I had was in Balada. We had a basically this market out there and remember those meat blankets, like the big thick blankets they would sell like the bizarre type scenario. Basically someone had left these open, you know, wires and it ignited this, you know, these bunch of trailers and there's all that open space and oxygen. 31:05 So this thing's growing, you know, and I remember we had to fight that fire for like 12 hours, man. But as far as like, like then one time in base, in base housing, man, I remember there was this lady, I mean, she she was obese. You know, I don't know how to say it, but like she's in this bathtub and she gets. 31:18 Speaker 5 Stuck. She gets stuck. 31:19 Speaker 2 In this bathtub, she's naked, man, I mean, just swamped on his shoes, right. And so, so like this, this more experience this guy from Boston. I'll never forget his accent, man. But he he's like, hey, he's like, daddy, give me a spatula, you know, and I was OK, so I go get a spatula and he puts like the, the Jelly Lube on it. 31:36 And he broke that seal of the fat in the, you know, the bathtub, if you will. Then it tell like all of us to get her out, man. And it was not. It's pretty, but we made it work. 31:46 Speaker 5 So I want to move on a little bit because obviously you, you, you, you were a fireman for, you know, many years of your career and then you decided, hey, I want to go do something different and you cross trained again. So this would this would have been your second cross training in the Air Force, correct? Dude that is not. 31:59 Speaker 2 That was the old NCO corpus retraining. 32:01 Speaker 5 That that is not easy to do. I mean to, you know, cross training, honest. 32:05 Speaker 2 I wanted to go to helicopters at first, you know, in the 60s, right? And at that point I went to to basically a basic aero gunner back then after aircrew fundamentals at the Medina Annex down there, Lackland. And then you do that for like 2 weeks after the two weeks aircrew fundamentals class. And then you go to survival school about Washington. 32:21 You know, that was probably the worst and best three weeks of my life, man. You learn some really awesome stuff up there and you know how to they and all that good stuff and survive, you know, and, and then went to the water survival down there was a Naval Air station Pensacola. And then then I finally got to cannon after all the survival courses, you know, it took about a year to get checked out on the ACM 38 model gunship. 32:41 And, you know, and if I'm being honest, man, my first flight went so bad, bro, to where like, you know, my instructor said something effective, like you're the reason I have to be seatbelts on airliners, you know, and you know, he saw me licking my wounds and all this stuff towards this flight. And you know, he's like, hey, man, he's like, he's like, what's the most important word in the dictionary? 32:57 I was like, they don't even know what I'm at right now. You know, he's like, you know, perseverance. He's like, I want to think about what that word means to you. And next flight, come back ready to fight. And next flight we got to go to here at Miller's range and got to see the the one O 5mm go off and recall up to 49 inches. And I was like, man, I want, I want to do this for the rest of my life. I want to make sure those the Super ninja types get home with our closer support man. 33:15 And I was my wife for many years. And you know when when that's gone, man, that's a hard thing to swallow. 33:20 Speaker 5 You So what is the craziest thing you you experienced up there in Sierra training? 33:23 Speaker 2 I would say as far as what I can actually get into about, it was just the the amount. I've never been actually hungry until that moment, man, you know, and I was I was never a skinny guy by any means, man, But I remember, I remember like, you know, I had maybe one AB when I left that I was a whole shit man. Like this is, this is really, you know, and like you're, you're basically burning all these calories learning how to navigate, you know, it's all that good stuff. 33:44 And I, man, I was so hungry, bro. And they, they tell you not to, to just go crazy And like, you know, after your three weeks in the woods, like, or your week in the woods there, like not to like drink a lot of alcohol, for example. And of course we all went to, I think it's called the Survival Inn or something, or Survival bar or something like that. And you know, I went and got the biggest burger I've ever seen in my life, had a egg on it. 34:03 And, you know, drinking about about 3 deer, 3 beers on the floor, bro, 'cause I, you know, so dehydrated, you know, my nurse. But yeah, I was, I would just say the amount of just hunger and you know, you're drinking water with iodine tablets in it, you know, just just basically I'm learning how to be comfortable being uncomfortable. 34:18 And, and you know, they'll tell you if, if you're comfortable in the woods like you're doing something wrong, you know, did. 34:22 Speaker 5 They did. They make you guys kill chickens. Is that true it? 34:25 Speaker 2 Was a It was a. It was a rabbit. You got me. Hello. 34:29 Speaker 5 Yeah, I got you. Sorry. I'm like, I'm like, did they make you guys kill chickens? 34:35 Speaker 2 I don't know if I if I finished, but it was a rabbit, you know? 34:37 Speaker 5 That's my favorite. That's my favorite story is every guy that goes to see her training comes out and he's like, man, we had to kill a live animal. Man, that was crazy. So so I got. 34:48 Speaker 2 I got, you know, a lot of people that was their first time spinning anything, you know? 34:51 Speaker 5 I know, but it's a great dude, it's a great story and and guys that go to see your training, they absolutely, they the stories are always amazing. So I want to get into your time as an Ariel gunner. What is, if any situations that you can think of that you're like, dude, you know, it's not about divine intervention, It's not about, you know, whatever. 35:09 It's just about I shouldn't have came home that day, but this was a serious situation that I'll never forget. Do you have anything like that that you experienced? 35:18 Speaker 2 35:18 Speaker 2 I would say definitely one of those moments when I went to eventually I went to the helicopter like the jolly greens, the Paypalk out and the, the 41st Rescue squadron man. And, and, and basically, you know, the whole, the mindset behind that mission is, you know, the personal recovery type scenario. And, you know, most of my gunship flights, they went, you know, we provided close air support, guys got home for that close air support, you know, and that's you're the whole their lifeline at that point, you know, and, and I've noticed, you know what in that world, it's, it's not what you do that that haunts you. 35:45 So it's what you don't do. And, you know, and, and I remember it was like June 8th of 2018, we were in, we'd say East Africa and, you know, we were basically holding down seven days standby for this Casavak type, you know, situation that could happen, right. And, you know, I remember it was the last day of the, you know, the OR whatever. 36:01 And those guys had convoyed out and, you know, I went to the talk, you know, tactical operations Center for those who don't know. And basically I talked to the Intel Lieutenant. I'm like, hey, ma'am, is everything going good? And it's one of those situations where you you eat when you can eat, sleep when you can sleep because you're holding down for that long, you know, anything could happen. 36:17 She said, yeah, all, all is quiet, you know. And so I went back to the, you know, the 12 man tent and was on the top bunk. I'll never forget as soon as I laid down, man, basically my radio just goes, you know, takes on that scramble, scramble, scramble. And, and we took off man. And we had the galley team, 50 cows on board. 36:32 And the left gunner, he had a runaway gun from the steer knots on the galley team was basically or something like that. And basically like we were in this right hand bank and I just see no impacts, boom, boom, boom hitting the ground. Like, you know, we're like 15 feet off the ground at that point and I had pulled the, the flare pins and those don't know, like the flares is what protects US against like heat seeking surface air missiles, right. 36:52 And so water had gotten one of the panels and like short circuit it and we jettisoned all of our flares, man, like, like, I'm surprised I still have eyebrows. If I could literally feel the heat from all these, you know, these flare balls coming out the aircraft. And then, you know, by the way, the, the communication with the ground force command and the J10 was, you know, intermittent at best, you know, and basically this 13 minute flight over there. 37:12 And we get there and what it was, was there was these like these 12 guys in the tree line that were, they were shooting mortars that are another Green Beret team and special operators and stuff like that. And, and basically they, you know, there was disco fire involved and stuff like that. And there was at least at that point, I think 5 cat Alphas, meaning that you have an hour to get these guys back to operating table. 37:29 So they could, you know, so they can make it, you know, it's called the golden hour. And so we went to like 3 or 4 gun patterns at that point. And because we had to suppress the enemy before we landed and then we landed. I remember they, they brought the first American in the Eagle, you know, as we call him. And then the PJ started giving him a tracheotomy. 37:46 And then they put another green Beret beside me and he'd had his eye wrapped, you know, it's just some eye, eye shrapnel. And then a partner nicely guy who got shot in the stomach and the gut, you know, and he's, he comes towards the aircraft, we get him in and we immediately go back off into these, these gun patterns again. And we had to, you know, protect troll the the second aircraft, the helicopter on the ground getting there to cut off us. 38:07 And at that point, like, you know, we do 3 or 4 gun patterns. We were like, man, we got to get this these guys back, you know, and we went, we landed and, you know, the PJS took the, you know, pre cut office in there and to the surgery room and stuff like that. And basically we had to go back out because there was one more, one more cap bravo, like a less serious type injury, if you will. 38:25 And we went straight into the gun patterns and then trail picked up him and then we got back and, and I remember I got back to the aircraft and the, the experienced gunner on the left was like, he's like, you know, check the underneath the aircraft for bullet holes. I was like, man, it was like that close. You know, you don't think about it till after the drilling comes down a little bit. 38:41 You know, I go to the front round of the aircraft and, you know, the aircraft commander, I, I could see everything that happened at that point. And, you know, his face was white. And unfortunately the American had passed away once he got on the operating table. So like I said, yeah, that, that one definitely sticks with me, man. It's, you know, it's, it's one of those things where like things can go perfectly right for 29 days and all day 30, all hell breaks loose and then your life changes forever at that point, right? 39:03 And that's honestly what caused a lot of, you know, drinking problems and, you know, substance abuse and stuff like that. And which eventually I had to, you know, and I give help and you know, the Game 8 after all that stuff that goes with that man and not, you know, to seek mental health at that point. 39:17 Speaker 5 I, I don't think people understand how much these events that last for such a small period of time affect you for the rest of your life. And the problem that we have, especially with military and veterans, and I've said this, that's from day one, and I've said this on multiple episodes that we've done it. 39:33 If you want to fix the problem that we have, stop making going to mental health a problem. Stop making that a bad thing. You should almost order everybody in a unit. Hey, you got to go to mental health. You don't get a choice. Because when I was in the military, if you go to mental health, they take your gun away and you're on weeds and seeds and you got to prove that you're OK to come back. 39:54 But it's like, dude, everybody needs to do it. Getting help is the greatest thing you can do, especially when you live through these situations. 40:00 Speaker 2 When you get older and you get the telling of your career, man, you look at those letters a lot different. You know, the why behind all of that, you know, and and so basically I decided to write this book after the pro and exposure therapy. You know, I had all the stuff in my mind anyway, because part of that process is you're writing that out over and over and over to where you're like conversing about you're being comfortable being uncomfortable. 40:17 It's like we're doing now just talking about it, right? You know, and you realize too, like there's so much commonality in like that loss of identity when you walk out that door, like, you know, it's almost overwhelming with the reviews and the text and the emails. Like you see the similar struggle no matter what job it was really, but that level of importance, you know, and and again, you know, as far as combat search and rescue goes in the rescue helicopter, we got to see the best side of that job that day. 40:41 I mean, saving five guys, but we saw the worst ever 1 Eagle 1 American didn't pass away, man. And I don't know if you remember, if you go all the way back to to basic training, right, remember those those core visas cliches? This is going to sound one of those was service before. So for like, I didn't know what those words meant till later in my career till that day, you know what I mean? 40:58 Like, you know, that was someone's brother, someone's son, someone's friend, you know, paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, you know, and that and that always sticks with me. And that's, that's another wise to tell the rest of America, hey, this is what goes on when you're sleeping. And for those that served, it's, it's a, it's OK not to be OK, but it's not OK to do nothing about it. 41:15 So always take that tactical knee and you know, speak up and seek help when needed. 41:19 Speaker 5 No, I, I firmly believe and I, and I think it's because guys like you guys like me, guys that have been there, we started making it OK for people to go talk to somebody that can help them. And we started saying, dude, this is great. Like there's nothing wrong with that. 41:34 And I think that start once, once we start getting that more normalized, you're going to see less of it. Now I know, I, I know your book isn't all about that, but I do want to, I do want to dive into the book a little bit because the, the book isn't just about your time as a, as a, on an aircraft, as a, as an aerial gunner and, and providing close air support for special forces. 41:55 Can you kind of run me through start to finish? Like what? What can people expect if they read the book and what they're going to take away from it? 42:03 Speaker 2 The the book goes, you know, I grew up in a small town called Silva, North Carolina. And you know, I basically, I was just 160 LB kid man that had no direction, no desire to do anything, you know, and I, I tell people I probably read them a fifth grade level man. But somehow I got a got a book out. You know, that's what my friends always joke with me about. 42:19 It takes you through, it takes you through, you know, my high school years, this sort of shy, sheltered, quiet kid, you know, and, you know, and then finally I joined the Air Force, you know, and that I have my roots, part of my story. It's good to know where you come from, but really it's more important to know where you're going. And that's where the Air Force gave me wings and help me travel the world. 42:35 And, you know, I've, I've learned a lot about there's a lot of things in there like, you know, my perception versus people's perspective. You know, I'm like, I know Andrew Bustamante always talks about like, you know, my perceptions, like worthless, right? Like to get an advantage of a situation, you have to sort of look at it through other lenses, you know, so you're looking at life in these situations that it's not always black and white, other people's eyes and their their perspectives, man. 42:57 And that's to me, that's where growing happens, you know, and that's that's what I've learned as far as this, you know, this Air Force world, you know, you're surrounding yourself by, you know, your four quarters, you know, iron sharpens iron and you get to see their ideas and their inputs and then apply it to your own life. And, you know, as far as getting help, you know, towards the end of the book, I talk about like, you know, we're very normal men and women doing these very uncommon, unnatural things. 43:19 And, and again, you know, just to make that mental health plug, it's OK not to be OK, but it's not OK to do nothing about that. And you know, you're right. You know, sometimes when you, when you go see mental health, they, they do do take your guns, you know, and they take you off flying status. It was called the NIF duties not to coup flying. And, and for you guys, it would be like a do not arm type thing, you know, and no one wants to be that guy, you know, and at the same time, man, I had a chip on my shoulder when I went to see this lady. 43:42 And the first time I told her the story, I cried. She cried. And you know this, she gave me that cliche analogy of like, you know, you wouldn't call Dennis to to fix your, you know, your car right now. I was, I was a smart ass. Dennis was a mechanic, you know, something like that. And then once I got help and like, she's like, you should tell your story over and over. 43:59 And after I said no 100 times, once I got out in the dust of I was like, you know, like, maybe I can't pay it for maybe if one person gets help after reading this book, then that's a blessing. That's a win, you know. 44:08 Speaker 5 All right, so hey, I got to ask this now. 44:10 Speaker 2 Because we put his label on. 44:12 Speaker 5 Yeah, with, with, with the, with your book coming out. I think your book's been out now for what is it been a year? 44:20 Speaker 2 Craig Yeah, yeah, just over a year. 44:22 Speaker 5 All right, so your book's been out for a while. People are reading it. What's the reaction you're getting so far? People digging it or how's that going? 44:27 Speaker 2 Yeah, you know what's awesome, man? When I, when I go on Amazon, I see the men when I used to fly with them, like this one lady, she put on there like basically she said she went through every emotion within two hours because it is a short read, you know. But yeah, you'll, you'll laugh, cry and everything in between, man. And there's some, some very funny moments over these, these operations that had happened, man. 44:46 And, and I can go into some of those two if you want, but yeah, just say every emotion. And basically it's the best and worst of me in that all in 136 pages. 44:54 Speaker 5 Have you ever thought about going to Hollywood Man and freaking being a, what are they called, a liaison or a system matter expert for these movies? 45:02 Speaker 2 Yeah, yeah, actually I got something in the the world. I wish, I wish so much. I can tell you about it, but I just can't at this point. But yeah, something hopefully, hopefully soon with that stuff, man. So. 45:14 Speaker 5 Yeah, you're going to be out. 45:14 Speaker 5 Yeah, you're going to be out. You're going to, you're going to, you're going to give, you're going to give counseling for the people or was it's called counseling on what's called with with with Transformer 7 or something. That'd be awesome. 45:25 Speaker 2 No, I wish. Maybe it's going to be more one of those documentaries inspired by type things, you know? 45:30 Speaker 5 So Oh yeah, dude, that's going to be honest. All right, well, I'm excited see we get so so we will see more of Anthony in the future, hopefully, fingers crossed. He can't talk about it right now, but hopefully we see more people wanted to order the book. They want to get your book. They want to hear your story, right. What's the easiest way someone can get a copy of the book? 45:47 And do you sell special copies that are autographed with an inspirational message? 45:53 Speaker 2 Yeah, it's a appreciated question, man. Yeah, definitely on Amazon's the probably the fastest way to get you a copy. And I can send you the links to both those. And it's on Barnes and Noble and basically anywhere they sell books. And then my publisher, a Trademarker Media has a basically for the country and you go down and click the flag and it'll take you to the to Amazon link. 46:10 And as far as the signed copies, I have no problem, man. Ever since, especially a veteran or a first responder, a signed copy and it it'd be an honour to do that for anybody, man. And, and as far as future shows, man, I'd love to be on any, any show you got, man. It's been a been a fun one. Thank you. 46:25 Speaker 5 Thank you so much, Anthony. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. This has been great and I hope I really do. I want to have you on the the other show. I know we can work that out and hopefully we can talk about some more stories that you've had. And I I just again, if anybody's listening to this, you're struggling. 46:42 You were in the military, you were a veteran, and you dealt with some really serious stuff. Or even if you're just whatever, dude, it doesn't matter what you did. If you need help, get help. Everybody gets help, man. It's the cool thing to do. Anthony's on here. He's backing me up on this. There's no reason to suffer alone. 46:58 And I've lost way too many friends that didn't need to leave this world. So Anthony, do you have anything else before we get out of here? 47:05 Speaker 2 Now, brother, I appreciate you having me on, man. It's a privilege and honor to be here, man. 47:08 Speaker 5 Thank you, brother. Thank you guys so much for tuning in and we'll see you next week. 47:13 Dean and Lexi Share Their Blended Family Journey You're going to see a lot of Anthony, I promise. She's not the. 47:15 Speaker 6 Last time you're going to see him 47:40 Speaker 2 See us first of all. 47:43 Speaker 4 That was really good. That was awesome. 47:43 Speaker 4 That was really good. That was awesome. I liked that. That was a good one. That was fun. So that was the professional side. You know, you got to hear about America and wars and stories associated with wars in America. Now we're going to get something a little more fucking crazier. 47:58 Go ahead and turn down your volume, all right? 48:01 Speaker 6 Cut it down. 48:01 Speaker 4 About half, All right, because it's it's coming in hot, I'll tell you that. Here's a little segment of Blue Collar Shit with Crazy Mark and Josh Gibbs, followed by What's What's Dean calling this podcast? 48:15 Speaker 5 I think it's imperfectly perfect. 48:18 Speaker 4 OK, all right. You'll hear that too. All right, Let us know what you like and we will see you tomorrow. Bye. 48:23 Speaker 7 Hey, Ben. 48:24 Speaker 8 Yes. 48:26 Speaker 7 Why do mermaids wear seashells? 48:32 Speaker 8 Why do mermaids wear seashells? I don't know. 48:39 Speaker 7 They outgrew their B shells. 48:53 Speaker 8 Hey, so I'm Dean. 48:55 Speaker 7 And I'm Lexie, and this is our imperfectly perfect life. 48:59 Speaker 8 And bad joke telling. 49:01 Speaker 7 I can't believe you didn't know that one. I cannot stomp him on a joke ever. 49:07 Speaker 4 It was bad. 49:09 Speaker 7 All right, so we are on here to talk a little bit about our crazy normal life, something we've been talking about for a long time, kind of a so-called therapy for us if you will, just to get out there and speak our daily truth in our life. 49:30 Did I get that wrong? 49:31 Speaker 8 Nope, that is 100% factual all. 49:34 Speaker 7 Right. So we, we have been together now for almost 6 years. Well. 49:41 Speaker 8 Yeah, 6 1/2, but OK. 49:43 Speaker 7 Seven in the fall. 49:45 Speaker 8 Yeah. 49:45 Speaker 7 Yeah, we are a. 49:52 Speaker 8 I'm just glad that it's the guy getting it right, not the girl. 49:57 Speaker 7 OK, this is our second go around in marriage blended family. We have 4 kids combined 50:06 Speaker 8 Two and two. One week we're a family of two, following week we're a family of 6. 50:10 Speaker 7 Yes, and that definitely brings so many joys in life, but also a lot of challenges. So those are some things we'd like to talk about as we go on and record different episodes. But a little bit about us, baby, you want to start? 50:29 Speaker 8 Yeah. So I kind of was thinking we just start with who we are and where we came from. So I was born and raised in Decatur, GA and grew up down there and spent a handful of years in McDonough, GA got a lot of friends down there as well. 50:47 Once I graduated high school back in Decatur because, well, I got too big for my britches when I was in 8th grade for my mom, she sent me to live with my dad. Then I got too big for my britches with my dad. He sent me back to live with my mom and yeah, I was just a handful. So then I graduated high school and went right into working and I didn't really mature beyond 17 year old High School graduate until into my. 51:15 Well, I guess I'm still haven't matured yet, but whatever. 51:17 Speaker 7 You're you're 13 at heart. 51:18 Speaker 8 13 at heart. Fair enough. So I bounced around a little bit more after high school. Spent most of my time in Gwinnett County. Bounced back down to McDonough for a number of years in my late 20s, early 30s, and then moved back to Gwinnett County when I just had to get away from some bad influences and I was self sabotaging myself and I just needed to get, I needed to get my shit together. 51:46 So I thought that's what I was doing. And then I had a marriage that was I got the 2 greatest things in the world. My 2 little girls, little, they're 9 and 14 now. 52:04 And I don't regret anything that happened. But that marriage was not a fairy tale. It just wasn't. It was a marriage because we had kids and I went through a pretty ugly divorce, dropped a lot of money fighting for 5050 custody along the way. 52:26 During that divorce, I met, I met my best friend and my best friend and I have been married. Now it'll be 3 years this year. And I think that's, that's the short version. 52:44 There's, there's a whole hell of a lot more to go, but hopefully we have an opportunity to expound upon some of the things that happened along the way because there's a lot of things that I did way wrong. I mean, very wrong. And you know, I did some things right along the way as well. 53:04 I, I tried to sabotage this, not knowing that's what I was doing, but I did. And thankfully I got a strong woman beside me who, as I tell people, she stands behind me and everything I do. And sometimes she's got her hands firmly my back and she's pushing me in the right direction. 53:22 Other times she's shoving her foot up my ass because I did something stupid, so that's mine. 53:30 Speaker 7 Good job, babe. My story's a little different. I'm actually a transplant to Georgia. I was born in Arkansas. Yes, haters, come at me. 53:41 Speaker 8 Tell the name of the road. 53:43 Speaker 7 No, no we won't. 53:45 Speaker 4 Go there. 53:47 Speaker 7 We won't go there. I lived there for about a year. That's where my mother was from. My dad went there to find work and that's how they met. Then we were in Oklahoma for a year. So those are times of my life. I don't remember. I was too small. 54:02 Then we went back to, well, I never was there. We went to Ohio, which is the small town my dad grew up in lived, you know, all my youth life really there close to family and my sophomore year of high school we came down to Georgia. 54:20 My dad was transferred for work. So that's where I spent the rest of my high school career. Met my ex-husband while I was a it was between my junior, senior year through work, so shortly after high school. 54:37 Got married super young, had two children, kind of like my now best friend here. Those were the best things out of that relationship. I had a very hard marriage. 54:55 We'll get into that later on, but living with a personality that was extremely hard to deal with, just kind of surviving through the days and losing myself. So that marriage ended almost 16 years later, same thing is, you know, ugly divorce, a lot of money spent, a lot of trauma there. 55:24 But I found who I was again and now I'm married to my best friend, which leads into our story more of how we met one of my really good friends who was our daycare director knew everything I had been going through with my divorce. 55:46 She actually Dean's girls were at the very same daycare. We never knew each other didn't didn't know anything. She knew what he was going through. So we we kind of call her the the voodoo Princess, if you will, she. 56:02 Speaker 8 Looks like a treasure troll. 56:04 Speaker 7 Does not look like a treasure trove, OK, But she's signing. She's very petite. We love her to death. She kept going to Dean and said, hey, I have this friend and he's like, no, like not going there, going through the middle of his stuff. 56:21 And you want to kind of lead into more of that? 56:25 Speaker 8 Yeah, So when I say I didn't handle things correctly, when I found out what I found out, I blasted it all over Facebook. And the hindsight being what it is, I I said I handled it poorly. I handled it poorly, whatever worse than poorly is, that's what I did anyway. 56:46 So that's how the general public around us kind of knew what was going on. And it turned out that my oldest, and it was her second year of cheer, second, second year of cheerleading was with the old daycare director's daughter. 57:08 It was her first year of cheerleading. And she approached me at one of the practices and said, I have a friend who's going through a similar situation as you. She's about a year ahead of what you're doing, but it's very similar to it. 57:25 And I said no, thank you, I'm all ready for that. 57:29 Crazy Mark and Josh Gibbs Discuss Work, Golf, and Fast Food Wages All right, guys. Well, it's crazy, Mark and. 57:32 Speaker 3 Josh Gibbs. 57:32 Speaker 6 All right, this is our first recording of blue collar shit with crazy Mark and Josh Gibbs. So we're trying something new. Let us know how you like it on the the comments and stuff. And we're just going to give it a go and see how it works. 57:48 Brandon Chucker waiting to hear from us and hopefully have I'm going to talk to it right there. That way we don't have to look at each other. I might look at Josh. You know, this is, I'm going to get some recording stuff and we'll get going. But we're going to talk about some blue collar shit here now and again. 58:06 Not everything's going to be blue collar shit. You know, some things, there's going to be some things like I had to work today. Josh, what'd you do today? Played golf all day. He played golf. 58:15 Speaker 3 Ray busted my head from where you busted yesterday. 58:17 Speaker 6 Where's that at? Let's see it. Yeah, right there. Somewhere. Right there. Yeah. So he actually went and helped me hang a 400 amp meter bass yesterday because we had to get some blue collar shit going in this past weekend. I called up Josh and I was like, he went golfing last week and I'm like shit, I like to go to Top Golf. 58:35 I'm not really a golfer, but. 58:37 Speaker 3 Neither am I apparently a Top Golf. 58:39 Speaker 6 Well, you know, I've only been to Top Golf like 910 times. You know, I've been couple parties here with my sons. My sons don't like going to Top Golf, but I like going there. They like going bowling. I'm OK at bowling. I'm I'm good if I get 120. But Josh, he's apparently the golfer, you know, but I don't know about a top golf, you know, I mean. 58:59 Speaker 3 Too low. 58:59 Speaker 3 Too low. I came to 2nd place. Am I doing good? 59:01 Speaker 6 You came and taken place out of two people. 59:03 Speaker 3 Don't matter, all right, You have a second winner and 1st loser. 59:06 Speaker 6 Yeah, Gerald's a butt. You know he's you know, so when I get up there I do my first 5 balls and mine are pretty darn good and straight. I'm I'm averaging about 120 a 150 each one. 59:18 Speaker 3 I was averaging about 20 and 50. 59:21 Speaker 6 To the left and to the right. 59:25 Speaker 3 I got to tell you out there helping you too though one thing I got to say is you look at Mark and kind of old and he eats real well but some bitch moves like breeze. 59:33 Speaker 6 Maybe I'm pretty agile for a fat ninja. Yeah. So we are recording this on our first time in my warehouse where I work. So this is our wire wheel behind us. That's a lot of wire that we just pulled. So it's, I thought it was a cool background. 59:49 Josh wasn't really sure what I did. And we came in here tonight and he's like, shit, you do some fucking good shit. 59:55 Speaker 3 Yeah, it's kind of impressive in here. Can't believe they trust Mark with all this shit though. 59:59 Speaker 6 Me neither, but. Don't tell nobody that I got my crazy mark koozie with the coat going on. Josh is dipping like blue collar people do. I'm blue collar, but all I do is my Coca-Cola. 1:00:14 For now, I'm going. 1:00:16 Speaker 3 To turn them on to the nicotine. 1:00:18 Speaker 6 Maybe not. So anyways, we get the top golf, we start doing it. We order some appetite. He didn't know he's never been ordered some appetizers. I ordered the Mac and cheese bites and the pretzel bites. 1:00:31 Speaker 3 And the Macs used bites were. 1:00:33 Speaker 6 The fucking shit. They're fucking good. I like them. We're dipping in the sauce. I made sure don't double dip, Josh. Yeah. I didn't want no double dipping going on, you know, And you know, after a little bit of time, you know, I'm like, let's order some burgers. 1:00:49 I was like, where is our waitress? And the other waitress next to us, She's like, I'll go get her. 20 minutes go by. She's like, she ever come? I'm like, no, we want to get some burgers. So we ordered some burgers. I ordered mine just plain with cheese, ketchup and yellow mustard. 1:01:06 Josh orders his regular No tomatoes, right? 1:01:11 Speaker 3 You ordered a piece of meat and two pieces of fucking bread. 1:01:14 Speaker 6 That's what I wanted. I ordered what I want anyway, so I'm up there hitting my balls and I see the food coming. Finally, it's like forever and we're there for an hour and a half on the top golf thing and I come back after I'm hitting my balls and Josh is like, what you tell me. 1:01:30 Speaker 3 I think I fucked that make you a burger. 1:01:31 Speaker 6 Yeah, he ate my plain ass fucking burger. 1:01:35 Speaker 3 Well, the problem was is you get these people in there and they make they make $13 an hour. 1 bitch about it and I'm watching Mark make you swing so the guy comes up and he says no tomato and I said that's me and he hands me a burger. So I'm watching Mark and I just reached and I bite into this burger. 1:01:48 Speaker 6 And it tastes like yeah, it. 1:01:49 Speaker 3 Tastes like shit and I look over at Mark's and it's all pretty with all these toppings and Pickles. I'm like, well that's what the fuck I want. And I realized it was Mark's SO. 1:01:59 Speaker 6 So I'm just Josh is sitting there eating my burger and he goes up and hits his five balls. He comes back and finishes it. I'm looking for the damn waitress again. 1520 minutes goes in. She finally comes back and I'm like, they fucked up the burgers. 1:02:15 She's like, well what do you want me to do? I'm like, I'm not going to eat this. I want a regular burger. And this is we had about 51 minutes left when she came back and I told her I need actually it wasn't her, it was the other waitress. 1:02:28 Speaker 3 Yeah, because we had like three of them because you couldn't keep one. 1:02:31 Speaker 6 The one we don't know what she was doing. I mean, we went to Atlanta, so I'm not going to tell you anything about the people that are waitressing there, but. 1:02:39 Speaker 3 They pajama people. 1:02:40 Speaker 6 I ain't going back to Atlanta anymore. I'll go to freaking Alpharetta if I go there again. So anyway, so she said she ordered again. My waitress, she comes back. She's like, how's the food? I'm like, it's not good. 1:02:52 Speaker 3 Now we done told her about this once. We should come back and ask about it, yeah. 1:02:55 Speaker 6 So and then there's like 12 minutes left and she come back. I'm like, what's going on with the burger? She's like, you ain't got it yet. I'm like, have you brought it to me? 1:03:07 Speaker 3 And all they had to do, if they want to be smart about it is come out, take your burger back there, take the shit off of it and bring it right back out. No, I had. 1:03:13 Speaker 6 That sauce on it, I don't know what that shit was. 1:03:16 Speaker 3 I didn't mind it. 1:03:17 Speaker 6 Well, you're, you're yours. Had to, I don't know, it was like the house sauce. That's why I didn't want. I just wanted some bullshit, you know? So anyways, you know, so of course my shit got fucked up. And the sad part is my oldest son, Kaylin, he was on the Daily Dose show for Hobo Nose Edition. 1:03:38 He's like, I don't care how many people go out with my dad. 1:03:38 He's like, I don't care how many people go out with my dad. My dad's always going to get fucked, always going to get fucked with this food order because I'm so fucking picky, he says. I didn't think being biggie, just ketchup, mustard and cheese on a burger, that's all. 1:03:56 I wanted you. 1:03:56 Speaker 3 Know that's bad for about these people want 20 something dollars an hour. 1:03:59 Speaker 6 Yeah, let's talk about that there. This, this is our first edition blue collar shit. We're going to talk about the waitresses and food prep people and that shit compared to blue collar worker. Like what do you do, Josh? 1:04:11 Speaker 3 So I'm what do you do? I'm a mechanic by trade and I got tired of traveling. So now I work and I make potato chip bags. I run an extruder. Everything we did was dual game, running Struder and yeah. 1:04:22 Speaker 6 So he's like Laverne and Shirley from back in the days, working in the factory. 1:04:26 Speaker 3 Yeah, pretty much. 1:04:27 Speaker 6 So yeah. So is it boring? 1:04:30 Speaker 3 Yeah, it's fucking boring. Hot, sweaty. Bored. 1:04:33 Speaker 6 Will you help me out? Yesterday it was hot and sweaty. 1:04:36 Speaker 3 1:04:36 Speaker 3 I missed it. 1:04:37 Speaker 6 Was it boring? 1:04:38 Speaker 3 I went bored and you get to be outside you. 1:04:40 Speaker 6 Got to learn to bend that big ass fucking wire back then. Yeah, that shit. 1:04:44 Speaker 3 You got some fucking forearm strength from hell. 1:04:46 Speaker 6 I got some blue helmet strength man. 1:04:48 Speaker 3 Just got that retard strength. 1:04:52 Speaker 6 So anyways, you know, so like, I don't know much about like I know what I'm making now, I'm not going to disclose all that, but I remember back in 2010 when I was working with Bellsouth, I remember they were starting out at $17.00 an hour and after five years you would top out at 3110 an hour. 1:05:12 So I'm like, you know, I know that's pretty good money. But you know, and I mean, Bellsouth, it was a hard job. The first week is pole climbing school, you know, and you go to the job site and everybody's like, oh, it's only 18 feet, 18 feet. 1:05:28 Speaker 3 When I first went into the mechanic trade, I was rigging, so I was rigging, so I was going into places like South Wires, Hans. We would take machines out, put brand new machinery in. We take down the telephone poles. So fucking with cranes. Basically, you're the guy out there putting all the shit together, doing all the mechanic work to take telephone phones down, set machines up, making them run. 1:05:49 OK, I'll make 15 an hour. 1:05:52 Speaker 6 How many years ago was that? 1:05:54 Speaker 3 About 8-8, all right. 1:05:56 Speaker 6 1:05:56 Speaker 6 So, oh, just so you guys know, I got my hard hat on because I'm I'm the boss. 1:06:02 Speaker 3 And it is. It is blue too. 1:06:04 Speaker 6 It is blue. 1:06:05 Speaker 3 Yeah, it's blue. I'm color blinds. Yes, blue. 1:06:07 Speaker 4 No, it's. 1:06:08 Speaker 6 It's carbon fiber black. You want to call it black? You're color blinds. Sure. No wonder why you couldn't find the red wire yesterday. Fuck, he didn't tell me this shit. 1:06:18 Speaker 3 We just come from Atlanta and that ain't black. 1:06:21 Speaker 6 Yeah, I don't know. But anyways, I'm not too sure what Bellsouth AT&T's rate is, but I'm sure it's about $38.00 an hour. And, you know, they climb telephone poles, they do some digging and stuff. And these waitresses and food prep people, you know, they, I don't know, I mean, I got some statistics here, but you know, just on average in Georgia, I did some statistics on this to talk about the base salary of an electrician is 52,000 to 55,000. 1:06:51 That's 25 to $28.00 an hour when the median wage is about 62,000. And you know, like entry levels of 40 to 60, mid level of 60 to 80 and they experienced the master electricians get 80 to 100,000 a year. 1:07:09 That's at $48 an hour. You know, so I'm just just going off with some of the things and the fast food salaries. You know what, you know, it's like I got those on here. I got to go back and find my notes. 1:07:26 But the fast food salary, you know like in California and Texas it's like $17.00 an hour in California for them to start out at Florida is like $13 an hour and Georgia is $12.00 an hour. 1:07:45 So you starting out in the blue collar field, you're only like making 5-6 dollars an hour more than them and you're doing a lot more strenuous work. And I mean, that's just injury level. 1:07:56 Speaker 3 They're pushing for more war raises, want to make more? Can't get orders right? There's no repercussions for it. 1:08:02 Speaker 6 No. 1:08:02 Speaker 3 And then in our line of work, you fuck up, somebody dies or you get fired, place up. That didn't happen in fast food work. And the more money they want to make, the more money people like you're going to want to make. And where I work at, you can make 80 ninety $100,000 a year. 1:08:18 Speaker 6 That's not bad. 1:08:19 Speaker 3 So the more money that. 1:08:20 Speaker 6 I'm not gonna tell anybody how I make, you know, so I do pretty good.
